Message from Commissioner Harrison
January 9, 2012
Greetings,
I would like to wish everyone a belated Happy New Year. As we move into 2012, I am hoping for exciting events to take place in the hockey world, especially in the NPHL. I am very pleased to see the high volume of interest from hockey fans on the social networks and via e-mail.
From the NPHL’s inception, we understand that we are only as strong as our fans, and I am encouraged by the overwhelming interest, excitement and support in Pennslyvania, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and Michigan.
Today, we are releasing the NPHL’s Business and Marketing Model. The version that is available on the web site is condensed, as some information will remain confidential for prospective owners. Having said that, I am open to answer any questions the fans may have as they read through the model. Please direct your inquiries to info@nphlhockey.com
I would also like to annouce the first list of prospective cities for our inauguaral season. Please keep in mind that even though a city is listed as one of the NPHL’s choices, there is much work to be done, and the list is not set in stone. In some markets, the NPHL needs to find interested investors to become owners – ones who adhere to our vision and model. In other markets, we have to secure building leases.
- Charleston, W.Va.
- Flint, Mich.
- Greensboro, N.C.
- Huntington, W.Va.
- Johnstown, Pa.
- Pikeville, Ky.
- Richmond, Va.
- Roanoke, Va.
These cities showed interest and our study determined that the NPHL’s vision and model would work in these areas. If you feel your city was left out and you want to see hockey in your hometown, please contact me.
With the release of our model and wish-list, I know there will be skeptics. Trust me, we have tested and researched the model as best we could. With the delicate economic environment, it is the goal of the NPHL to make professional hockey successful, sustainable, fan-friendly and community-oriented.
Again, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I will keep everyone informed as best as possible as we move forward in the days and weeks ahead.
Thank you,
Chuck Harrison, Commissioner
Northern Professional Hockey League
